Marika Veronika Gosztonyi Ainley

December 4, 1937 - September 26, 2008

Marika peacefully took her last breath at 5:34 pm, surrounded by loved ones: her husband David, daughter Vicky, and son Mark, with her sister Gyongyi on a phone that was lying on her chest.

We are only taking phone calls from family at this time.

More to be posted in the coming days. Thank you for your love, support, and contributions.

Dear David, Vicky & Mark,
What a beautiful photo of Marika.
That is how I am going to remember her--full of life, energetic, and loving.
My return trip to Montreal was smooth, but tiring as I didn't get home until midnight.
I would lilke to thank Marika's family & friends for all they did to make my stay in Victoria pleasant at such a difficult time. My thanks particularly to Pat, Bonny, Maureen, and Annelie for their hospitality.
I am very glad that I came & was able to have a little quality time with Marika before she fell into a deep sleep.
My love and sypathy are with you all at this time.
Barbara.

It is so hard to believe that such an unquenchable spirit is gone. That she didn't just say, "that is unacceptable" (with the extra syllable) and overcome, as I heard say and wathced her do so many times.... I miss her already...

May all of you know how well loved and respected she was by the women's community in PG.

Dear David, Vicky and Mark,

Thank you for posting that wonderful picture of Marika. That is how we will all remember her. Feisty, flare and beautiful.
I will also remember visiting her on Tuesday and the squeeze she gave my hand as I said farewell. She was a wonderful, loyal friend and I will miss her very, very much.

Our deepest sympathy and love to you all in your time of sorrow.

Hi David, Vicky & Mark, I know where you are at (unfortunately)so won't ring. I send you all my love and remind you to remember the good happy healthy times through all the hectic and tiring days ahead. Please remember it is OK to cry and allow others to cry with you (as I do) but the pain has gone now for Marika and as you rebuild your lives enjoy the fact that she still shares them with you. God Bless Marika, my love to you all.

Barbi - family, New Zealand.

Dear David, Vickie and Mark.

I am sure I speak for quite a few of us at the SdeB Institute when I send our deepest sympathies. Marianne was always a very vibrant person and so full of life. That she held on as long as she did shows her love of life, and all of you. She will be missed by many.

Bon courage!

It was Marika's friendship and care that had made my experience in Montreal that much more settling as I was from the West Coast and not at all familiar with Montreal. I am so glad that I reconnected with her again and for her to remember me so well from 15 years later. Her friendship will always bring a smile to my heart. Much fond wishes, barb dawson
