Sunday recap

A quick summary of Sunday - Mum started getting some food via her tube (no word on whether it was mashed Yorkshire Pud or Wiener Schnitzel) and was drinking some of the Aloe Juice that I brought her. She was sounding strong and clear already before this. This lack of food has been a good detox, and if anything has come out of it, it's very clear, soft skin!

More paintings have arrived to decorate the last remaining wall, and the cards continue to arrive and are all being put on the walls.

Sunday night was a family get-together watching New Tricks - the room has a much larger TV than that swing-around hospital one from last week.

More news to follow...

Dear Marika and All,
This is very good news. Undoubtedly you will begin to feel so much better with the intake of food. How about some Hungarian gulasch with lots of paprika? This will be a week of significant improvement and growing strength for you.

Many friends send their love and "get-well" wishes including Rose, Jennie, Katherine of course, my brother Jim, Rosemarie, the Montreal gang whom you hear from in any case.

I'd love to see your room. Perhaps David or Mark can take a picture or two for us. It seems, after two moves that you are in comfortable quarters now. Have a good Monday. Much love, Susan & John D.

More Greetings from Montreal Marika,

I’ve just gotten back to town and heard the news that you were in the hospital/hospice. I’ve read through the whole blog – it’s quite a lot to digest in one shot but I’m glad to hear that things have improved somewhat over the last few days. I do hope you’ve found a way to get that Scotch!

Thanks go to Mark for posting news for all of us who very much want to know how you are doing. It will be great to see some images of your room.

I was pleased to see that you and David recently did an Alaska cruise – I was there two years ago and although I am not a birder as you know, I found the birds there amazing in September. And those mountains!!! It looks like you were enjoying yourselves.

I’m glad to hear you still have your wicked sense of humour and that ability to laugh at the inevitable folly that surrounds us all – despite the nasty physical challenges you are dealing with. As we would expect, you are handling a very difficult situation with your usual style, daring, creativity and a good dash of hot paprika!!! I’m sure you are keeping everyone on their toes! That wonderful red hair is a beacon to us all who know and love you.

My dear friend, you are in our mind and hearts. From a distance, we send our good wishes and much much love, hugs and kisses. Know you are treasured by so many of us.

Hi Marika,
Here are some more good wishes for you from Montreal. I hope that the upward trajectory you are on continues, and send you all good thoughts.

Thanks, Mark, for this blog. I look forward to keeping up with Marika's news.

I remember with great pleasure those great times when you were Principal of the SdeB. Your style and wit and grace under pressure were always an inspiration to me.
Alles Gute,
Love,
Rosemarie

Hi Marianne, I just heard today This message is now a week old as I have been having great trouble getting through) that you've been through some pretty rough chemo treatment and I'm delighted to hear that you are improving day by day. What a great picture of you and David on your Alaska trip. That must have been a real treat. When we did our trip across the country we mad it as far as Hyder Alaska and that was a magnificent experience. It was the spawning season and we saw the salmon making their way back to the spawning grounds. It was a remarkable sight and the river was being patrolled by black bears and grizzlies. I never saw such courage as those salmon had- the kind of courage I associate with you. I appreciate this blog site and I will check in every day. The day you drink the scotch I'll drink one with you and for you. Lots of Love, Dana.

Hi Marika - I am glad to read that you are improving - getting food into you will do that :) Have returned from our hike in Yoho and Lake O'Hara. If you didn't feel any vibes on Friday it could be the electrical storm right above our heads was interferring. Were we glad to get down off that mountain - But the beginning of the day was good so it was not all wetness and terror. The next day was fabulous, with sun and a lovely walk through the forest to Consolation Lake. It had snowed so there was just a dusting of icy snow on the moss and in the trees - very lovely - paintable!! We had a ground squirrel join us for lunch and pack away our two apple cores, cute little animal. Did not see any large animals - read bears!! Was thinking of you while we were sitting in the sun enjoying the scenery and company of like minded women. Continuing to send you good, healing wishes. Stay strong.
Love Lynn Box
