Movin' on up

Mum got moved into a room upstairs in the hospital today - don't have all the details yet but apparently the room is not yet done up to her specifications...her Feng Shui Consultant son needs to get in and work his magic, which will happen on Thursday.

Her voice was stronger again today and her cousin Robi arrived from Toronto - so there were three Hungarians in the room! If anything would get her voice working again, it would be that!

There was good news that the chemo session, for all the harm that it did, actually might have improved some of the liver functions for now, according to recent blood tests. That said, she will not have another such treatment as it would quite literally kill her - this last time was close enough (her reaction really was very, very bad). She had her second radiation treatment today to help hold back the impact of the cancerous cerebro-spinal fluid - three more of those to go.

A friend of mine was saying today that her mother had the same thing in her spinal fluid and that it didn't impact her the way the doctors had expected. It is always difficult to know how much of a doctor's expert opinion to take seriously because each person and their healing process is so different, so their diagnosis can often be nothing more than an educated guess - and guesses can be wrong. Here is hoping that she continues to defy the odds.

Hi Marika
We hear from Mark's latest report that you have moved up in the world, well done!
We read Mark's reports everyday, so you are consantly in our thoughts. Jean in Yorkshire has to nip next door to use her neighbours computer, as she is 'computerless' or useless as she says with modern technology, it must be a trait with all Yorkshire people me included (I did not mention David!!) He must be pleased with yesterday's football result with Eng beating Croatia. We love reading all the 'comments'or is 'blog' the with it word. Was one in Hungarian? it must be a nightmare playing 'Scrabble' in that language!!!
Lots of luv Ron & Dorothy

Felt a sense of relief on reading Mark's last report. Setting up your space is so important. Jenn did it for me when I had my knee surgery. Love to all of you. Margaret

Good Morning, Marika,
This is good news on several fronts! It's significant to learn that, for all the devastating effects of this last chemo, it did some important good. We hope you're feeling more comfortable now and that your mouth is making progress. The "Hungarian therapy" is the best thing you could have right now! Wonderful! You've moved again! Your two decorators will see to it that everything is perfect. Thinking of you all the time, much love, Susan

Hi Marika,
So you are in 'first class' now and you should be. I got all the latest news from Bonny. Isn't it wonderful that your "Art History 101" sold.
By today you will be surrounded by all your family, I hear Mark and Vicky are coming again. Are you allowed to make/receive telephone calls? It would be good just to hear your voice. I was watching the Dutch violinist/impresario Andre Rieu's show from Vienna last night when a number of Hungarian music was featured. It is not difficult to guess who I was thinking about all the time - meine flammend-rothaarige Freundin mit viel Paprika im Blut. Hugs Annelie

Marika, Artiste Extraordinaire-

Speaking of computer kluxes...Tried to blog you yesterday and will try again (you'd think we all would know how to do this, eh?)

While looking at the display of works by Studio Madrona I fell in love with "Art History 101" - and bought it! Yea, Marika!! It is ringing with colour and with your unique sense of design and humour.

Sorry you are yet again in the hospital but I know it is in your battle against those nasty cancer cells. Go, girl!

Many hugs from Kate Mailer

My Dear Marika,

It was wonderful to read Mark's blog this morning to find out that you are improving.
Hope your new digs will contribute to your well being and that your visitors no longer have to gown up.

It was heartening to know that all your agony was not with out some positive results. You must have a very strong constitution to have endured the brutal attack of the chemo.
It is hoped the radiation treatments will be successful and the side effects will not be too harsh.

Love from Matthew and Carol
